Claude Dashboards: Can Your SME Use It Yet?

Claude Dashboards

Claude Dashboards is Anthropic's new beta feature for building live dashboards from company data. In our view, an SME gets value from it only when its data already sits in a connected data platform or CRM. Anthropic launched it on 8 October 2026 alongside Claude Motion, a tool for animated explainers.

If you already use Claude and wonder whether this changes your reporting, Anthropic's announcement sets the limits. Dashboards is in beta on paid plans, while Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise. That detail decides who can try either tool this month.

Claude Dashboards Builds Charts From Connected Data

You connect a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks or Snowflake, then ask a question in plain language. Claude pulls the answers from your data, builds the dashboard and keeps it current as the data changes. It also works with your other connectors, with a dashboard of Salesforce opportunities as Anthropic's own example.

Anthropic point to quick, exploratory questions, such as how this week's signups compare with last month's. Each chart shows when its data was last refreshed while any number opens the query behind it. In our view, that transparency is the strongest part of the feature, because a person can check the working.

Claude Dashboards Hand Off to Your Analytics Tools

Anthropic say dashboards work alongside existing BI and analytics tools. When a question needs deeper analysis, you can send the dashboard to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma. Looker, monday.com and Tableau are coming soon.

Claude Motion Turns Reports Into Short Animations

Claude Motion builds a short animation from a prompt, such as a 30-second explainer based on a quarterly report. Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images. Anthropic say you can change any word, number or timing because no video generation model is involved.

Type '/motion' in the Claude message box to start, then download an MP4 or open the result in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway. Canva and Captions are coming soon. Anthropic list Motion for Team and Enterprise plans only.

Who Can Use Claude Dashboards This Month

The obvious objection is that Claude works with a CRM such as Salesforce, which would put Dashboards within reach of any SME. That holds only if the CRM is already connected and your plan includes the feature.

Anthropic's announcement names data platforms and connectors but does not mention spreadsheets. We would not assume that a folder of Excel files counts. In a sales team on Salesforce, for example, the first dashboard might compare this month's opportunities with last month's.

Ask yourself one question. Do you have a connected data source and a question that currently waits days for an answer? In our view, a yes to both is where a trial could pay back, because Anthropic say questions about company data usually mean filing a ticket or writing SQL.

Enterprise customers face an extra step because Anthropic say Dashboards and Motion are off by default and admins switch them on in the Artifacts settings of their organisation. The announcement says nothing about regional availability. Check your own account before you plan around it.

Docs, Slides and Design are also out of beta and available on every plan including Free, according to Anthropic's announcement.

Check Every Dashboard Before It Reaches a Meeting

Anthropic say Claude makes the first version and you decide what gets shared. We agree with that and would add one rule: name a person who checks the query behind each chart before anyone presents the numbers. A dashboard that updates itself also repeats a wrong query automatically.

Anthropic say you can share dashboards outside your organisation or with anyone who has the link if your admin allows it. Agree who can see what in your AI policy first, because staff will otherwise try the tool on live customer data, a risk our guide to shadow AI explains.

Data and process also come before any tool. When we helped a boutique financial consultancy automate client reporting, monthly reporting cycles fell from three days to under four hours. That result rested on clean data and a mapped process, which our piece on AI workflow redesign argues most SMEs skip.

Should You Wait Until Claude Dashboards Leaves Beta?

Waiting has a fair case because, in our view, beta features change and early problems tend to surface in other businesses first. If you have no AI policy yet or handle sensitive client data, we agree that you should wait. For everyone else with a connected data source, one dashboard built on one question will teach you more than any launch article.

Find Out If Your Business Is Ready for Claude Dashboards

As we do not sell software, our advice starts from your data and your budget rather than a vendor's roadmap. If you do not know where your data lives or who would check a dashboard, you sit at the Confused stage of the AI confidence journey, which is where we start. Jon Rew, Managing Director at Scimitar Sports, said 'we learned a lot from the AI Readiness Assessment'.

Claude Dashboards rewards businesses that know their data, their questions and the person who checks the answers. Take our free AI Readiness Assessment for a personalised AI readiness score in two to three minutes.
